U 16 Match Report:
U16 county quarter final
Valley Rovers v Dromtarriffe Sun. 9th 6.30pm
Our u16 girls lined out on Sunday evening to play Dromtarriffe in Brinny. We had just 3 injuries from our starting fifteen and we were up against a team we knew nothing of.
The game started fast with the visitors scoring 3 goals in quick succession their full forward was fast and on target. However Valleys came into their own and showed a style of play that was a pleasure to watch for the watching crowd. Captain Michelle o'Regan drove home an answering 3 goals and that along with points from all forwards and midfielders secured Valleys lead at half time. The second half brought more of the same with backs Leona Murphy, Megan O' Brien, and Eleanor Murphy keeping the Dromtarriffe forwards form making much impact. The game ended with Valleys well ahead and looking forward to the Semi Final against Bride Rovers.
U12 Match Report:
Sat.1st County Quarter Final v Fermoy.
Played on a very sunny day in Fermoy this match was a closley fought game with Valleys winning by 2 points in the end.
Playing with the wind in the 1st half Valleys put pressure on the Fermoy defense for large parts of the half but the Fermoy defense restricted the Valleys scoring which left Rovers go into the break 2 points up.
The second half with Rovers playing against the wind was tough and a great display of defending and attacking saw Valleys come out eventual winners by 2 points.
Sat 8th Sept.: County Semi Final v Nemo Rangers
Valleys started this game as underdogs. With great defending and tenacious attacking saw Valleys dominate the half and Nemo new there were going to battle hard if they were to win. A splendid display by Valleys saw them leading at half time which was well deserved. However, in the second half Nemo started to take control and even though Valleys played out of their skins they were enable to withhold the Nemo attack. It was late in the second half though before Nemo took the lead and this was mainly due to the great efforts and galant display of the Valleys team. They can hold their heads high for providing such a great team display. Nemo went on to win by 2 points.
Well done to the Valleys team and they did themselves and the club proud.
