U16s off to a flyer

Valley Rovers U16 Footballers opened their 2012 Campaign on Saturday February 11th in Ovens against Eire Og.Valley Rovers won on a scoreline 2-6 to 1-6.This was a robust game of football with both sides playing a fast moving game with tight defensive marking making scores hard to come by. Valley Rovers were leading at halftime 1-3 to 0-2 with points coming from Darragh Looney,Eoin O'Reilly,Johnnie Kiely and Robbie McCarthy.Darren O'Driscoll impressive at full forward scoring a goal.
In the second half Valleys got more of a grip on the game with points by Tadgh O'Brien,Darragh Looney and Robbie McCarthy and a second Darren O'Driscoll goal meant Valley Rovers were more in control.
Eire Og attacked strongly in the last quarter scoring from a penalty and a number of points getting within 3 points. However Valley Rovers defended strongly anchored by Cormac Desmond at Full back holding out for the win.
A good start to the new season.
