U15 Hurling Championship Kanturk 4-9 Valley Rovers 1-8 Valley Rovers produced another spirited second half performance in the country semi-final of the under 15A hurling championship away to Kanturk on Saturday. However, the home team were very strong and had built up a big lead in the first half and it was always going to be a tall order for the Rovers to close that gap. U15 Hurling Championship Nemo Rangers 1-09 to Valley Rovers 0-10 Despite a great comeback, Valley Rovers under 15 hurlers lost out narrowly to Nemo Rangers in the final of the U15 A East hurling championship in Whitechurch on Saturday. As with their previous two championship outings, weather conditions were not ideal, with very heavy rain before the throw-in. Valley Rovers and Cork Senior Football goalkeeper, Alan Quirke (37) today announced his retirement from inter-county football. Alan made his debut in 1999 against Donegal, and has worked with the last three Cork managers, Larry Tompkins, Billy Morgan and Conor Counihan. U15 Hurling Championship Valley Rovers 4-6 to Cloughduv 2-6 Valley Rovers qualified for the final of the U15 A hurling championship after a win over Cloughduv in Brinny on Saturday.
