Under 11 Hurlers played at half time of Cork V Tipp last Sunday

  • Mar 12,2019

Last Sunday saw Valley Rovers U11 Hurlers play Midelton at half time in the Cork V Tipperary National hurling League game. It was a great honour for the lads to be asked to be part of one of the great sporting rivalries that exits. While the Cork game might have been disappointing, the Rovers lads did not disappoint and gave a great display. Many were nervous having never played in front of such a large crowd before but once the ball was thrown in, the nerves dissipated and they gave a great account of themselves.  We have to thank GDA Games Manager Kevin O Callaghan and County Runaí Kevin O’Donovan for the invitation and facilitating us on the day. Our thanks to Midelton GAA for a sporting contest. Many thanks also to Tadgh Burke and Trish Shiels who organized extra players in addition to the U11’s to enable us to play 3 games on the day. Of course we are not forgetting the 33 players on the day who were a credit to their families and the Club. Who knows if they keep practising at home maybe we will see a few in the Red jersey of the Cork Hurlers in the not too distant future.
