Report From recent AGM

  • Dec 16,2023

Valley Rovers recently held a very successful AGM in Innishannon. Chairperson John O’Donovan welcomed the large crowd to his first AGM as Chairperson. John thanked everyone who contributed to Valley Rovers during 2023, from officers, to committee members, sponsors, organisers and contributors to the various fundraisers, supporters, mentors and most importantly players.

The Secretaries comprehensive report was reviewed and opportunity given to discuss our teams performances in 2023.Reports from all the committees were also discussed.

Many comments were passed on the Development report where the highlight was the development of the 4G surface in the Ball wall in Innishannon. The donations for the clubs development plan was also discussed and the appeal was made for all supporters and members to try and support the plan so everything on the plan can be completed in the next few years to ensure the club have facilities that will help to improve players and make it a more enjoyable experience playing for the club.

The lease of our ground in Brinny was also discussed where the club have secured a new lease from MSD for 69 years to take us up to 2092. This is a significant milestone for the club and it puts the club on a much more secure footing and provides certainty for the club for a significant number of years to come. It also makes the application and drawing down of grants less complicated. The club expressed it’s sincere thanks to MSD for their continued support of the club and we look forward to working together in the years ahead.

The club also unanimously passed a motion to name the Bleach after Conchúr Ó Murchú. Con Murphy is a former President of the GAA and has achievements are legendary both as a player and as an administrator. Once the Bleach pitch development works are complete in the next 12/18 months, the Bleach will be officially opened and named after Con Murphy which we hope will be a fitting tribute to him.

On the night the club also elected a New President as Gus O’Donovan had completed his successful 3 year term. David McCarthy has accepted the Role of President for the coming 3 years. David gave many years of dedication to the club from being an outstanding player, selector, building of the Dressing rooms in the bleach and many other roles too numerous to mention. The club are indebted to Davy for his massive contribution over the years and are delighted that he has filled this Role.
